It seems wrong.  Back in april I got a new 24" LCD monitor to replace an aging 19" CRT.  At the time, my new monitor seemed like the biggest thing EVER!  But, just a few minutes ago, I was cursing its small size because I couldn't get all my windows arranged....  funny how the human mind works.....

The director of the Florida Zoo gives details about what was going on as the hoax that caught both the Zoo and PerformWith.Us.  I agree with the assessment that the hoax was quite elaborate, and am also left confused as to the point.

However, I think the real story here is the impact this is having on the zoo workers.  If you are in the Pensacola area, consider stopping by the zoo and giving them some coin.  And of course if you aren't in Pensacola, you can contact them about making a donation.

Keep your Baloney Detection Kit in tune folks! Even if you think you are a skeptic, you can still get suckered. I was brutally reminded of this right before my holiday weekend started. As people who know me already know, I consider myself a bit of a skeptic, regularly reading the Skeptical Inquirer, the JREF website and Bad Astronomy (among others) on regular basis. However, on Wednesday July 2nd, I got a call Wally, a good friend and one of the principals here at PerformWith.Us. "Are you ready, you might want to be sitting down..."

It turns out that the person we'd been using as our sole connection to a number of Disney stars when setting up PerformWith.Us was a complete fraud. The memos, phone calls, emails and all other interactions that he used to establish his credibility were fakes.

We can take some comfort in the fact that we weren't the only one taken in by the hoax. The Zoo NorthWest Florida was also taken in, and they may even have to close their doors as a result.

Oddly enough, we had already planned to hit the P.T. Barnum Museum in Bridgeport, CT. over the holiday weekend. Just one of those ironic things that happens every so often in our life. Of course, we look at things like the Cardiff Giant and the Feejee Mermaid today and wonder "how could anyone fall for that, they must be..." But we forget that in their times there was semi-honest debate about the existence of both giants and mermaids, which Barnum used to his own advantage.

And after this last week, I definitely feel a much closer bond with those who were duped by Barnum.

As some of you may have noticed over the past week or so, myddrin.com has been down.   The server containing the myddrin website had an unrecoverable crash, and since I was working on this site, I decided to move my myddrin.com blog over to here.

The blog will still remain largely technical and personal, but it will also hit on some of the things I'm doing in the performwith.us website as well.

If you are looking for a post of mine, I may try pulling in some of my posts from 2005-2006, but the majority of my posts from 2007 onward have been lost. *Sigh*.  Yup, around that time, I moved hosts and change technology and a back script that I thought was working was not.

So the blogposts that cover the development work I've been doing for the past 2 years have been lost...
